Abstract: The continuous medium model with shell correction from Nilsson model is used to study the ground state properties of heavy nuclei (Z≥82). New parameters are obtained for the continuous medium model by fitting the experimental binding energies. The theoretical calculations for the masses and radii are in good agreements with experimental values, and the rootmeansquare deviations are about 0.8 MeV for the masses, and about 0.07 fm for the radii.
