Abstract: Some physical processes of the interaction between heavy charged particles(heavy ions) and biological medium are described according to the theory of atomic physics in the paper.Basic physical matters involved in research into the biological effects of heavy ions are discussed. They are energy loss of heavy ions,δ-electron emission, electron transport and track halo(penumbra),condensed phase and track core.
