Abstract: Atomic physics information is of great importance to fusion reactor design, whichdefine the accessibility of the ignition regime, plasma burn duration and operational parametricspace of the reactor. We discuss the role of atomic physics in several of the most critical reactordesign areas and specify the required atomic physics information including interaction of plasmaparticles with solid surfaces.
