Abstract:
The spontaneous fission of
252Cf is investigated by using the γ-γ coincidence techniques with the HPGe array to extract isobaric yield of primary fission fragments via γ-γ coincidence spectroscopy. The deduced relative isobaric yield distributions of
252Cf primary fission products with mass numbers of 106, 107, 108, 142, 143 and 144 are compared with the GEneral Fission (GEF) model calculations as well as the JENDL-5 values. The relative isobaric yield distributions obtained from the present experiment, JENDL-5 values and GEF model calculations are in reasonable agreement with each other and exhibit near-Gaussian characteristics. This indicates that the relative isobaric yield distributions for most mass chains of the fission products could be extracted in this way if the experimental data statistics are sufficient and the needed level schemes of the fission products are obtained.
