Abstract: The structure and the design of the HIRFL-CSR internal target system is reported. The HIRFL-CSR internal target can operate in two modes: cluster target mode and polarized target mode. The cluster target may provide the gas target of H 2, N 2, noble gases and small molecular gases with a density of ≥10 13 atoms/cm 2, and the polarized target may provide polarized H and D beams with a density of about 2×10 11 atoms/cm 2.
