Abstract: A very peculiar effect occurring when an amorphous material is irradiated with swift heavy ion is the giant plastic deformation phenomenon discovered in the eighties by Klaumunzer[DD(-8/9]¨ It is macroscopically visible atomic rearrangements induced by electronic energy loss.
